The building hosting the Museum of the work of the Cathedral, inaugurated in 1986, is located on “Piazza dei Miracoli” and collects the art works of the Opera of the Primaziale Pisana.
The museum made of 23 rooms include san important collection of sculptures from the 12th-16th centuries, among which the masterpieces of Nicola and Giovanni Pisano; an archaeological section with Egyptian, Etruscan and roman pieces; the Treasure of the Cathedral with Italian and French goldsmith from the 16th to the 19th centuries; paintings, decorations and sacral facings from the 16th to the 18th centuries.
Inside the Dominican convent of San Marco, built from 1436 on the project of Michelozzo, is hosted a large collection of works of the Renaissance painters Beato Angelico, made of so many frescoes realised in loco as well as various paintings collected from the last century on.
The “Palazzo of the Uffizi”, built on a project of Giorgio Vasari between 1560 and 1580, welcomes the Gallery of the Uffizi, one of the most famous museums in the world. The Uffizi are welcoming paintings on table and linen, antique statues, absolute masterpieces of the art of all times. It is enough to remember the names of Giotto, Michelangelo, Piero della Francesca, Beato Angelico, Raffaello, Botticelli and so many others. Among the most famous paintings in the world we find "The Madonna with Child and Saints" of Giotto, "Madonna with Child in throne, angels, saints and prophets" of Cimabue and the "Madonna of the Cardellino" of Raffaello Sanzio.
