The white and blue medieval festival

The white and blue medieval festival, celebrates its 10th year and today it plays an important role among other events in central Italy: in 2002 some people wanted this old medieval tradition to live again in our time; at the beginning it was supposed to celebrate only the flag flyers' team "il Cassero", but its success has convinced the organizers to repeat it in the following years, and as the time went by it became one of the most important events in the province of Arezzo, having a wide appeal on other surrounding towns.

The event takes place on the hill Castiglion Fiorentino stands upon, in the middle of a triangle formed by Firenze-Siena-Perugia, on the former parade ground of the old 11th century castle, at the foot of the only bell tower which overlooks the valley Val di Chiana, with its magical atmosphere. The area is incredibly suggestive, guests and visitors have free access, and so they can get in touch with the historical landscape around it, in every detail.

Guestst who come to the square Piazzale del Cassero can see shows with hawks, jugglers, musical shows, sword tournaments, flag flyers, swor eaters, fakirs, minstrels and jokers. You'll also find taverns where ladies in medieval costumes offer typical traditional meals and good Chianti wine. The white and blue medieval festival includes a medieval market too.
