The Centro di Documentazione of the Cultura Rurale of the Casentino, located in Castel Focognano, not only gathers data on peoples' kind of life and economical and social conditions, but it also collects information on their traditions, beliefs, habits, customs, daily life rhythm and the modifications made on the landscape in the course of time. This is how it allows to correctly and exhaustively recover the cultural heritage and to critically interpret the rural culture of our land.

Torre di Ronda
This small monumental architecture has been recently renovated and it is located in the ancient village of Castel Focognano, at the foot of the Pratomagno massif's east side. This is what remains of the original castle dating to the XI century, which was destroyed by the bishop Tarlati in 1322, and that today is the exposition base of the CDCR.
The themes
There are three storeys, with wooden ceilings and walls covered with stone, where the three different exposition sections develop. They are divided into themes and are linked to the peculiar aspects of the typical agricultural, sylvan and pastern culture of the Casentino territory, based upon the work of the woods and the land, sheep breeding and wool manufacture.
The organization
The presence of manufactured articles has a introductory function to the different themes of the three sections: any barrier has been eliminated between the exposed objects and the visitor, giving the possibility to manipulate artefacts and, therefore, to develop fruitful knowledge.
The informative supports
Since the CDCR is the didactical instrument par excellence, its informative supports have been arranged with care. Each section has numerous comprehensive didactic and informative panels, graphic material, photos and illustrations that are immediately understandable.
